Thanks so much Debbie! I am so glad to hear about how God is moving in your ministry. We just really never know where he is taking us and what he has in store for us. Keep preaching and keep being open to the move of the Spirit! I’m excited about how God is expanding your ministry in unexpected ways. Fear will always try to enter in, but this experience has taught me that it doesn’t have to win and for that I am thankful.

Frequently I have been moved to close out my FB account because there is so much on there that I am simply not interested in. Then, I come across a post like yours, that directs to your web posting, and I am glad that I stay connected through FB. Loved the post and the excerpt of your preaching experience. Like you, I seldom preach at my home church. But a few months ago I was invited to preach at another UM church in the Balt-Wash. Conference. The pastor was going to be away, had heard me do some biblical storytelling/commentary at a Conference event and was moved by the Spirit to contact me. Honestly, I only said yes because I recognized the request as the Spirit moving me to another opportunity to share storytelling and spread my own wings. Well, I was lifted (not by my own power) and the service went well. Since then I have accepted another invitation to preach at a small church in Bowie in June. Don’t know where this is taking me, but I’m trying hard not to let fear enter in to the equation! Thanks for sharing your story.

Just found your blog today as I was surfing around. Wanted to say Happy Nappy to you! I think the 1st year might be the hardest. I've been Sisterlocked going on 11 yrs this Nov. Best thing I ever did! I say being natural is like a fine wine…it just gets better with time!

Thanks for sharing. I've just completed my fourth year (where did the time go???) and still find myself wondering what I'm going to do with my hair or whether or not I have the energy to do the things I imagine for my hair I don't think that will ever change.
But enjoy the journey!
